Niskayuna - Manfred Eggers 75, died at home on Sunday, July 20, 2008 after a long courageous battle with heart disease. Manfred was born ,raised and educated in Bremen, Germany. He moved to the United States where he became a citizen. For several years he worked for a German company selling auto parts. He then opened several German fast food restaurants in Texas. Manfred moved to Niskayuna when he married the daughter of an American soldier he befriended during WW II. He leaves behind his wife, Sally Thomas Eggers, a step son, James Brooking (Beth), a step daughter, Michelle Brooking Cuscino (Rick) and two granddaughters. He is also survived by a son, daughter and grandson in Texas. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Arthur Stevens and Dr. Mark Jordan. Both of them oversaw Manfred's care for many years and provided him with a wonderful quality of life he would not have had otherwise. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in the Ballston Spa Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308 or to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd. Albany NY 12205
